Update 1.0(MAJOR UPDATE)

You know how I said 0.6.1 was going to be the final update? I was wrong about that. I decided that, honestly, I should finish Spotclick: Scratch Edition before making a new version for Unity with things I will discuss later. Due to this decision, I have finally released the version 1.0 update! It's coming in two parts: Spritedate 2(aka Part One, the first Spritedate was released before this game was on Itch.IO!), and Difficulty Uprising(aka Part Two). Part One is now out, and we have some exciting news relating to it! Now, if you want to play on Linux or Mac, you can!

There are a few disclaimers for these versions, as I'm using the TurboWarp Packager to make this game available. These disclaimers come right from the TurboWarp Packager website:

Mac:

"Due to Apple policy, packaging for their platforms is troublesome. You either have to:

  • Instruct users to ignore scary Gatekeeper warnings by opening Finder > Navigating to the application > Right click > Open > Open. This website generates applications that require this workaround.
  • Or pay Apple $100/year for a developer account to sign and notarize the app (very involved process; reach out in feedback for more information)"

Linux:

"Linux support is still experimental.

The application will only run on 64-bit x86 computers. 32-bit computers, Raspberry Pis, and other ARM devices will not work.

The application is started by running start.sh."

Keep these in mind when playing on these platforms.

Now, here are the patch notes,  generated with my new Change Log Maker python program(still in beta, go check it out here: https://extenos.itch.io/change-log-maker):

Spotclick Version 1.0 Part One Patch Notes

- Updated almost every sprite; the older ones are still accessible

- Changed the shot speed

- Fixed the background looking incorrect and added a glow effect to it

- Made a Mac, Linux, and web build

Once the Part Two update comes out, I'll update this devlog with the new patch notes here. After that releases, there will most likely be a big break, since I will be learning Unity and trying to port this game to it. I may release a few updates, but nothing too major.

Some things I'm planning to add to the Unity release:

-Multiplayer, local and online(battle mode and co-op mode)

-Better controller support

-New mechanics

-A story mode(maybe?)

-More polish(cool trails, CRT effect, custom music, etc.)

That's all I have for this devlog. Talk to you soon!
